In India, the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam is starting a new trek complimented with homestays around the Adi Kailash mountain which is considered sacred by Hindus as the snow deposition on the peak looks like the sacred sign ‘Om’. The homestays in the village will generate employment for the local youth and promote local culture & traditions.

Assam Tourism to streamline homestay segment

Read up on plans by the Government of Assam to turn the state’s homestays into an organised sector by mid 2015 by introducing a set of guidelines and criteria for service standards. The directorate of tourism plans to give lessons to staff managing the homestays and also do regular checks of these homestays.

White Sands Pupfish in need of host families for 2015 season

In other sports related news, the White Sands Pupfish baseball team is searching for host families to take in 25 of their players who are from 12 different states and two countries. Host families must provide a room which includes washer and dryer, bathroom and kitchen and are allowed to cheers for their player at games. Most important is to give them support and a family atmosphere for the whole period.

AFS New Zealand Looking for Host Families

30 volunteer host families are urgently being sought by AFS New Zealand to welcome students from all over the world. Students aged between 15 – 18 will be staying from anywhere from 3 months to 10 months.

More than 100 Up With People members will be in Farmington during the premier of their newest production, “The Journey” at the Farmington Civic Center. Host families generally host one or two students aged between 17 and 29.
